Too often, we focus on the short-term cost of something without considering the long-term consequences. We think about the immediate financial outlay or time commitment, but we don’t think about the bigger picture.
For example, let’s say you want to start your own business. The short-term cost might be the money you need to invest, the time it takes to set everything up, and the potential risk of failure. But what about the long-term cost? What will it cost you if you don’t pursue your dream? What opportunities will you miss out on? What regrets will you have?
On the other hand, let’s say you want to indulge in a bad habit like smoking or drinking. The short-term cost might be the immediate pleasure you get from it. But what about the long-term cost? What will it cost you in terms of your health, your relationships, your finances, and your overall quality of life?
So, it’s essential to ask yourself, “What will it cost me?” instead of just “, What does it cost?” Think about the bigger picture and the long-term consequences of your actions. Don’t just focus on the immediate gratification or the short-term expense.
Remember, the choices you make today will determine the life you lead tomorrow. So, choose wisely and always consider the long-term cost of your decisions.
