Sometimes you have to move on.
There are moments in life when holding on is no longer strength. It is simply keeping yourself trapped in something that has already run its course.
Moving on can be one of the hardest decisions we make. It might mean leaving a relationship, changing careers, walking away from an environment that is damaging you, letting go of an old identity, or accepting that something you once wanted is no longer right for you.
The problem is that many people confuse persistence with refusing to let go. We are taught to keep pushing, keep fighting and never quit. While resilience is important, there is also enormous strength in recognising when the fight is no longer worth having.
Moving on does not mean you have failed. It means you have learned enough to recognise that your future requires a different decision.
In this episode of The Strong Life Project, Shaun O’Gorman explores the difficult reality of knowing when it is time to let go and move forward. Drawing on his experience in leadership, high performance, resilience and personal development, Shaun discusses why people often remain stuck in situations that no longer serve them and what it takes to make the decision to change direction.
If you are feeling stuck, struggling to let go of the past, dealing with a difficult relationship, questioning your career or simply know that something in your life needs to change, this episode will challenge you to take an honest look at what you are holding onto.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is stop looking backwards, accept what has happened and start building what comes next.
Your past may explain where you have been, but it does not have to determine where you go.
